Over a thousand employees from businesses and groups throughout the region volunteered thousands of hours of labor to assist nonprofits and community projects throughout the Lehigh Valley for United Way.

Valley Youth House hopes to raise $25 million toward its endowment. The agency supports life skills programs, family-based behavioral health, school-based programs and a summer camp.

The formal event will take place at SteelStacks at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15.

Thanks to contributions from over 200 individuals and organizations, victims of the May 29 Ferry Street fire have been provided with over $67,200 in funding to help them recover.

It will offer affordable spay and neuter surgeries, wellness visits, vaccines, TNR services and more, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Wednesday by appointment only.

PPL will hold a small appliance recycling event, scheduled for Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 20, that will accept room air conditioners and dehumidifiers in working condition, according to a release.
