The Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School is well on its way to moving in to its new location on Avenue C in Bethlehem by next school year.

LehighValleyNews.com will host a debate between Democratic incumbent Susan Wild and Republican Lisa Scheller on Friday, Oct. 21, at the Univest Public Media Center in Bethlehem.

“The city of Bethlehem is ready to step up and meet the regional need,” Deputy Director of Community Development Sara Satullo said. “It is a major shift from simply meeting the community's fair needs of shelter to a holistic, comprehensive approach.”

The school district is expected to get two electric vehicle school buses as part of a pilot program.

Bethlehem residents may soon be able to get permits to keep backyard chickens. Two committees agreed the concept is a good one, but some officials still worry about the spread of avian disease and other issues.

New Bethany Ministries will host its 25th annual Luminaria Night on December 10, 2022. The funds raised will go toward NBM’s mission to offer hope and support to those suffering from poverty, hunger and homelessness.

The incident has prompted the Bethlehem Area School District and city police plan to ramp up security measures at future games.
